This is the powerful PIC32MX250F128B in SDIP package, perfect for starting to play around with Microchips great PIC microcontrollers. Like most PICs the PIC32MX250F128B has the USB controller integrated which eliminates the need for another chip just for uploading code via USB.
The 32-bit RISC CPU runs at 40MHz and has 32k SRAM available as well as 128k Flash memory which gives you a lot of room for even quite advanced projects. The PIC32MX250F128B is about 8 times faster than an ATmega328, the core of the Arduino Uno.
The PIC32MX250F128B comes with a lot more features, like two I2C, two UARTs, integrated RTC and much more. To make uploading code to this chip as easy as possible, it comes with the chipKIT bootloader preinstalled.
- 32-bit RISC CPU with 0.5 mA/MHz current consumption
- 128KB Flash memory
- 32K SRAM memory
- Operating voltage: 2.3V to 3.6V
- Two UART and I2C modules
- Hardware Real-Time Clock and Calendar (RTCC)
- Up to 13-channel, 10-bit ADC
- 19 GPIOs
- 5 PWMs
- chipKIT bootloader installed
You can use a multitude of IDEs to program this chip (select 'chipKIT DP32' as board), we prefer UECIDE, but MPIDE works equally well (see links below).
Note: The chip runs with 3.3V logic levels and its inputs are not 5V tolerant!
