This small and handy USB gadget is actually a real and useable soldering iron with a heat-up time of less than 20s and cool-down time of less than 30s. If the soldering iron is unused for more than 25s it will automatically go to sleep mode to save energy. A protective screw-on cap protects the soldering tip when not used.
While USB standard requires the USB port to be able to supply at least 500mA, this soldering iron draws about 1.5A when heating. While most modern computers are able to supply 1.5A, we still recommend to use a powered USB hub or directly a USB power supply (see recommended products below) for powering it if your situation allows for it.
Note: Make sure your USB port is properly fused and is able to supply 1.5A before using it directly on your computers USB port. If in doubt, use a powered USB hub or a USB power supply rated at >1.5A.
